Thomas Sowell: How politicians 'solve' problems

"No one will really understand politics until they understand that politicians are not trying to solve our problems. They are trying to solve their own problems – of which getting elected and re-elected are No. 1 and No. 2. Whatever is No. 3 is far behind."

and

"What is stupid is believing that politicians are trying to solve our problems, instead of theirs."

Joseph Farah: Why sin cannot be condoned by state

"The issue Christians and Jews should be focused upon is whether it can ever be acceptable for the government to condone sin – or, worse yet, encourage it by making it a 'right.'

"I don't believe government can do that without dire consequences.

"In Romans 1:18-32, a Hebrew scholar named Shaul, known to Christians as the Apostle Paul, wrote the following:

"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

"Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

"Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

"Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

"And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

"Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

"Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

"And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

"And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

"Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

"Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

"Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

"Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

"What is he saying here?

"He's saying something to which every Christian, every Jew and every American should pay close attention:

"* God has revealed to all men the difference between right and wrong. You may not like God's rules, but we are all without excuse as to what those rules are.

"* If you don't obey God's rules, your heart becomes darkened to the truth. You might think you know better than God, but you are actually a fool if you do.

"* When a whole society rejects the One True God and begins worshipping false gods, it opens the society up to judgment.

"* Those judgments include the following: more unrighteous behavior, sexual immorality, meanness, greed, envy, violence, conflict, lies, gossip, hate for God, pride, self-centeredness, mercilessness and disrespect for parents by children. Notice that No. 1 on that list is homosexuality. However, also notice, it's not just homosexuality, but an increase in those who take pleasure in the exhibition of homosexual behavior that comes as a judgment on a society rejecting God.

"Does this sound like any societies you know?

"America is being judged by God."

Bob Parks: Obama: The Kenyan Republican

"Many of us had no idea the Republican Party had it in them, but to devise and implement such a plan was ingenious. Think about it; party leadership acting totally inept while a charismatic young Democrat presidential candidate captures the imagination of the normally lethargic youth vote, captures the senior vote, women, and even sends a thrill up the leg of the media.

"And within a few short months after attaining the presidency, he conducts himself in a manner (personally and in office) that had not only invigorated his political opponents, but has them so energized they take to the streets and even march on The Capitol (more than once). One would have to conclude Barack Hussein Obama is either the most politically clueless president ever, or… is really a stealth Republican destroying the Democrat Party from within."

Frank Salvato: Have Democrats Been Marginalized Within Their Own Party?

"Further, one of the most powerful influences in the Progressive Movement – aside from the neo-Marxists of the Frankfort School and the ideological manifestation of political correctness – is the radical ideology of Saul Alinsky, whose Rules of Radicals mandated:

1) Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have.

2) Never go outside the experience of your people.

3) Wherever possible go outside of the experience of the enemy.

4) Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules

5) Ridicule is man's most potent weapon.

6) A good tactic is one that your people enjoy.

7) A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.

8) Keep the pressure on.

9) The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.

10) The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.

11) If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside.

12) The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.

13) Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."

Why Jesse Jackson is Sambo and Quimbo

On November 18, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation in Washington, D.C. held a reception to honor the 25th anniversary of the first presidential campaign of the Reverend Jesse Jackson.

At that reception, Jackson said: “We even have blacks voting against the healthcare bill from Alabama. You can’t vote against health care and call yourself a black man.” Without mentioning him by name, Jackson referred to Representative Artur Davis(D-AL), the only member of the Congressional Black Caucus to vote against the House Healthcare Reform bill.

Memo to Rev. Jackson: Who made you the “Keeper of the Blackness” and the Chairman of the “Black Enough Committee,” officially certifying who is “authentically black”?

Has Jesse Jackson has gone back to his old ways of racial divisiveness? If a white-dominated corporation did not jump to his tune (and did not write his organization a check), he would officially brand it “racist.” If it did capitulate to him (and write his organization a check), he would call it “a responsible corporate citizen.” Now when a black elected official acts in a way that displeases Jackson, he will imply that official is “not black.” That kind of rhetoric worked years ago with people who feared ostracism from the black community at large by not being “black enough.” However, that went out with 8-track tapes and blaxplotation movies like Blackenstein.

I agree with Project 21 Fellow Deneen Borelli who said: “Jackson is acting like a slaveowner trying to keep blacks on his ideological plantation where, they are required to support government programs that increase public dependency on a bureaucracy. In Jackson’s world, it appears a black man cannot have independent thought. They must follow Jackson blindly or face lashes from his tongue.”

Does Jackson believe he is the leader of the black Borg Plantation, I mean, Collective (from Star Trek) where blacks must live, work, speak, and act as a group and not individually? Memo to Rev. Jackson: Resistance is not futile. Resistance is to be applauded on Davis’ part as he did not vote along with the group. Davis said that the approach of the leadership of the House of Representatives “is not the best we can do." According to Jim Galloway of TheHill.com: “(Davis) said he preferred a version passed by the Senate Finance Committee because it reduces subsidization of the healthcare industry, taxes high-value health plans instead of wealthy people, and is more effective in getting employers to help with health coverage.”

Perhaps Davis also had questions, as I do, about the bill such as the over $400 billion dollars of cuts in Medicare which will affect senior citizens (and please don’t say that it won’t). Perhaps Davis had questions about a legal mandate to force people to buy health insurance or pay a penalty and even go to jail (Don’t say that it is the same as requiring car insurance because we can choose to own a car. We don’t pay for car insurance for cars we do not own. We will be legally forced to buy a product because we are carbon-based Americans who have a body temperature.)

Who is Sambo and Quimbo? They are characters from Harriet Beecher Stowe’s 19th-Century novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin. They were the black-overseer flunkies of the evil Louisiana plantation owner Simon Legree. It is amusing to me that there are many whites and blacks, including Jesse Jackson, who call blacks who have independent thought, “Uncle Tom sellouts.” An essay at Redefine.org.ua says: “On Legree's cotton plantation Uncle Tom becomes a field-hand, and suffers all the misery and torture of Southern bondage. Tom's virtuousness and religious principles make him submissive to the worst of masters so long as exploitation and bad treatment concern him alone. But when Legree wants him to become an overseer and an instrument of cruelty for Tom's fellow-slaves, he refuses to obey. In contrast to Tom's noble attitude the author portrays two Negro overseers, Sambo and Quimbo, who were wild and cruel... Sambo and Quimbo hate Tom fearing he might take their privileges on the plantation and they become beastly cruel to him.” (http://www.refine.org.ua/pageid-1850-1.html)

“Uncle” Tom did not grin and “shuck-n-jive” with Legree saying “Ah aims ta please yall mas’r!” He was no “Stepin Fetchit.” It was Tom who helped slaves to escape the plantation. It was Sambo and Quimbo (who even hated each other) who wanted keep their fellow black slaves on Legree’s plantation. Legree says: “Hulloa, There! Sambo! Quimbo! All hands! There’s two runaways in the swamps. I’ll give five dollars to any nigger as catches ‘em. Turn out the dogs! Turn out Tiger, and Fury, and the rest!” Tom wanted the escaped slaves to be free and refused to tell Legree anything about their whereabouts. In refusing, Tom died at the hands of “Mas’r’s” black flunkies Sambo and Quimbo. Legree ordered them to beat Tom. They even wanted $5 in return for getting the escapees back into slavery. Who were the real sellouts?

Jesse Jackson has been the white-dominated Democratic Party’s Sambo and Quimbo for years. In the past, Jackson has delivered the black vote for the Democratic Party, for which the party was grateful. The black vote kept it in business. And if any black dared to stray from the Democratic Plantation, he would give them a tongue beating, just like Sambo and Quimbo beat Tom. Congressman Davis got a taste of that beating.

However, since Barack Obama became candidate for U.S. President, Jackson became irrelevant. Jackson did not have to convince blacks to vote for Obama. Obama delivered his own vote. (I don’t even remember Jackson and Obama sharing the same stage on the campaign trail.) But Jackson still seeks relevancy as the Chief of the Blackness Police.

Can I call Jesse Jackson an “Uncle Tom”? That would be bestowing on Jackson an undeserved distinction and honor. Can I not call him a Sambo and a Quimbo? To take the Star Trek analogy further, there was a facility on the starship Enterprise called the Holodeck where computer programs simulated actual people, places, objects and events as if they were reality. Jackson found the “freedom simulation program” for black folks, but in reality they are still in space on the Democratic Party’s flagship the USS Plantation. They don’t boldly go where no black person has gone before. They haven’t left where they were.
