Daan de Wit: What to choose... The vaccine or a natural remedy for the Swine Flu? The facts and the fiction.

"In 2005 Barack Obama wrote an opinion piece in the New York Times on how to prevent a pandemic, the world at that time being under the threat of the Bird Flu. He also gave an interview on this subject. Even then he was an advocate of the government taking forceful action: '[...] the government's going to have to incentivize the large capital investments that will be required in order to manufacture sufficient quantities once a vaccine is identified [for a given strain of avian flu]'. For the consequences are great, said Obama: '[...] in addition to obviously the loss of life, the breakdown of our health systems, the economic consequences would be huge'. In the meantime the now President Obama has declared the pandemic - defined as such by the WHO - a national emergency. Due to this declaration, various laws and bureaucratic rules can be bypassed. Obama has asked Congress for and has received three times the amount of money than was originally planned to combat the virus. But what are the facts?"

View From the Far Left: Obama exploits Fort Hood massacre to promote US wars

"President Barack Obama used his speech at Tuesday’s service for the 13 men and women killed last week at Fort Hood, Texas to promote the two ongoing US wars and his own plan to escalate the intervention in Afghanistan.

"The president delivered his remarks as his administration is finalizing plans to send tens of thousands more US troops to Afghanistan."

Great Moments in Broadcast Journalism #426

David A. Nace: The failure of collectivism

"In 1932, Communism was considered a viable alternative to Capitalism. The members of FDR’s cabinet that had met with Joseph Stalin some years earlier were impressed with the progress his central planning or collectivism had made in Russia. The brutal mass genocide of Stalin’s regime had yet to be exposed. They were also intrigued with the industrial collective that Mussolini’s fascist government was able to achieve in Italy.

"FDR was able to gain support for his programs by blaming business and investors for the economies’ failure to recover, despite the fact it was his programs and policies that were thwarting the recovery. His collectivist policies kept wages and prices high while discouraging businesses from expanding to reduce unemployment."

Constancio Asumen, Jr: The Repugnant Obama Paradigm

"I have come to the inevitable conclusion that President Obama’s ascendancy to the Oval Office was made possible mainly by a failure of the majority of the American electorate to recognize a multitude of patterns concerning Barack Hussein Obama, the individual, his modus operandi, and its cumulative impact to our national polity. These include, among others, his associations, his teleprompter enhanced eloquence, his penchant to obfuscate information obstinately, his flair for the dramatic and sensational, etc., in endless litany.

"Granted, there were countless enablers along the way. But the genius of Obama lies in his gambit that taken as a litany, or a laundry list of seemingly harmless lapses of judgment, his modus operandi could not harm him politically. He was in effect counting on the statistical certitude that the majority of the electorate could not muster a gestalt perception of himself as a politician. Therefore Americans as the electorate are inherently incapable of knowing how harmful Obama is to America."

William Owens Jr.-- Author of 'Obama: Why Black America Should Have Doubts'

William Owens, Jr.: THE DNA OF AMERICA v. AN OBAMA IDEOLOGY

"After exploding our national debt to over ten trillion dollars in under a year, Obama has weakened our Union. China refuses to invest in our economy and investors are now putting their cash elsewhere, namely in China. The twisted idea that activating a press machine can ink our way out of debt is destroying the American dollar. The proposed second stimulus, the abject failure of the first stimulus and continual reckless spending, is weakening us, making us vulnerable to our enemies, and lessening our financial ability to tend to the needs of our own families. This is not in our DNA."

Geoff Metcalf: ENEMY AMONG US

"Investigators want to know if Hasan maintained contact with a radical mosque leader from Virginia, Anwar al Awlaki, who now lives in Yemen and runs a web site that promotes jihad around the world against the U.S.

"In a recent blog posting titled 'Nidal Hassan Did the Right Thing,' Awlaki calls Hasan a 'hero' and a 'man of conscience who could not bear living the contradiction of being a Muslim and serving in an army that is fighting against his own people.'"

Financial Post: Flawed climate data

"I have been probing the arguments for global warming for well over a decade. In collaboration with a lot of excellent coauthors I have consistently found that when the layers get peeled back, what lies at the core is either flawed, misleading or simply non-existent. The surface temperature data is a contaminated mess with a significant warm bias, and as I have detailed elsewhere the IPCC fabricated evidence in its 2007 report to cover up the problem. Climate models are in gross disagreement with observations, and the discrepancy is growing with each passing year. The often-hyped claim that the modern climate has departed from natural variability depended on flawed statistical methods and low-quality data. The IPCC review process, of which I was a member last time, is nothing at all like what the public has been told: Conflicts of interest are endemic, critical evidence is systematically ignored and there are no effective checks and balances against bias or distortion.

"I get exasperated with fellow academics, and others who ought to know better, who pile on to the supposed global warming consensus without bothering to investigate any of the glaring scientific discrepancies and procedural flaws. Over the coming few years, as the costs of global warming policies mount and the evidence of a crisis continues to collapse, perhaps it will become socially permissible for people to start thinking for themselves again. In the meantime I am grateful for those few independent thinkers, like Steve McIntyre, who continue to ask the right questions and insist on scientific standards of openness and transparency."
